Item The effect of mesa dimensions on mems diaphragms for fabry-perot interferometerbased fiber optic sensors(Bursa Uludağ Üniversitesi, 2023-02-13) Atıf 4.0 Uluslararası; Durmaz, Ahmet; Hayber, Şekip Esat; Aydemir, Umut; Mühendislik Fakültesi; Elektrik Elektronik Mühendisliği; 0000-0002-8928-2563; 0000-0003-0062-3817; 0000-0001-5396-4610In this study, the effects of mesa dimensions on sensor response in diaphragm-based FabryPerot fiber optic sensors (FOSs) were investigated in detail. Mesa diaphragms, also called centerembossed diaphragms, have been discussed sufficiently in the literature, but the effect of mesa thickness on sensor performance has not been discussed in detail. Moreover, there is no precise analytical solution for such diaphragms. For this reason, diaphragms with different thicknesses and radii were selected, and the deflection and frequency responses of the diaphragm according to the applied acoustic pressure were analyzed using the ANSYS software, depending on whether the mesa is thinner or thicker than the diaphragm. If the thickness of the mesa is smaller than the thickness of the diaphragm, the center deflection changes drastically. However, if the thickness of the mesa is two times greater than the thickness of the diaphragm, there is no significant change in the deflection results. Similarly, if the mesa thickness is thinner than the diaphragm, the sensor’s frequency response changes drastically with increasing mesa radius. In cases where the mesa thickness is larger than the diaphragm thickness, the frequency response changes less. For this purpose appropriate controllers need to be designed. PIDs are the most popular controllers and there are traditional methods for their design. In recent years, metaheuristic algorithms also have been used to tuning the PID coefficients. In this study, an interactive graphical user interface program was designed, which makes the design of PID type controllers with six up-to-date metaheuristic algorithms according to different performance criteria. The controller coefficients can be tuned easily, quickly and effectively with this software tool that performs single or comparative designs, provides numerical and graphical solutions, and enables detailed analysis and synthesis.Item The design of control system simulator(Bursa Uludağ Üniversitesi, 2022-01-07) Hatun, Metin; Vatansever, Fahri; Mühendislik Fakültesi; Elektrik Elektronik Mühendisliği; 0000-0003-0279-5508; 0000-0002-3885-8622Selection of a suitable controller type, determination of its coefficients and adjustment if necessary is an important issue in the design of control systems. Quickly checking whether the closed loop system with a designed controller meets some desired time/frequency response criteria will save time for the student/designer. In this paper, an interactive control system simulator is designed to perform the simulations for closed-loop systems obtained with user-defined systems and different types of controllers whose parameters can be changed. The simulator allows the user to see the time/frequency response of the closed-loop system for different systems defined as single or comparatively and check whether some desired time/frequency domain criteria are satisfied, quickly. In addition, the simulator allows the possibility to see the disturbance input response and the effect of the measurement noise altogether with the reference input response, comparatively. Thus, analysis and comparison of different controllers and also teaching of control systems will be performed easily, quickly and effectively by using the simulator.
