Item The effects of shrub pruning and fruit thinning on seed germination and seedling of tomato in the next generation lycopersicon esculentum mill(Uludağ Üniversitesi, 2011) Tabasi, Atefeh; Nemati, Hossein; Tehranifar, Ali; Akbari, MohammadSeed is the main principle of agricultural products and it has a key role as first consumable input to transfer genetic Characters. In this investigation the effects of cultivar, shrub pruning and fruit thinning on qualitative and quantitative characteristics of tomato (seed and seedling) have been evaluated. Experiment was performed by factorial analysis (3×2×3) with 5 replications in completely randomized design (CRD). First treatment was three cultivars of tomato, second treatment was two styles of shrub pruning, in which all of subsidiary branches are removed (Type 1) and one cluster and leaf on subsidiary branches are remained and then extras removed (Type 2) and Third treatment was fruit thinning. Each tomato cultivar was fruit thinned to three different levels (4, 5 and 6 fruit for each plant). The results showed that all treatments had significant influence on weight of 1000 seeds for the next generation. The effects of cultivar and fruit thinning were significant on germination percentage. But shrub pruning did not affect the germination percentage of seeds. Also effects of cultivar and fruit thinning were considerable on fresh and dry weight of seedling root and stem. The effect of fruit thinning and cultivar were significant on height and the number of seedling leaflet. Totally fruit thinning and shrub pruning had a vital role in increasing qualitative and quantitative characteristics of seed and seedling.Item The estimate of combining ability and heterosis for yield and yield components in tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill.)(Uludağ Üniversitesi, 2012) Farzane, Akram; Nemati, Hossein; Arouiee, Hossein; Kakhki, Amin Mirshamsi; Vahdati, NavidA study was conducted on a 10×10 diallel cross set of tomato including reciprocals to find out the extent of heterosis, combining ability for yield per plant (kg) and yield components (number of fruits per plant, individual fruit weight (g)) and locule number. Significant differences among genotypes were obtained for all of traits. The variances for general combining ability (GCA) and specific combining ability (SCA) were highly significant indicating the presence of additive as well as non-additive gene effects except the number of fruits per plant and relative magnitude of these variances indicated that additive gene effects were more prominent for all of the traits. The tomato genotype Mb3 proved to be the best general combiner for yield and number of fruits per plant.Item How may trichoderma application affect vegetative and qualitative traits in tulip darwin hybride cultivar(Uludağ Üniversitesi, 2011) Mazhabi, Morteza; Nemati, Hossein; Rouhani, Hamid; Tehranifar, Ali; Moghadam, Esmat Mahdikhani; Kaveh, HamedTo study the effect of Trichoderma harzianum Bi on qualitative and quantitative traits of tulip including stem length and diameter, bud diameter, petal length, bulb perimeter and bulblet number, an experiment based on completely randomized design with 8 replications were completed in situ. Main media mixture was 40% of coco peat+ 40 of field soil+ 20% of perlite. Treatments included enriched coco peat with trichoderma in different concentrations (0, 20, 50 and 100%) of total coco peat. Results showed that 100 and 50% of enriched coco peat significantly increased stem length and diameter. These treatments also had an effect on bud diameter significantly. Petal length was also affected by 100% of enriched coco peat treatment in comparison to control. All treatments (20, 50 and 100%) had a significant effect on bulblet appearance in both mature and immature bulbs. Mature bulb perimeter was significantly affected by all treatments although immature bulb perimeter was only affected by 50 and 100% treatments. Flower bud formation in immature bulbs which was treated with 50 and 100% of enriched coco peat increased significantly in comparison to control. Totally it seems that trichoderma increases tulip cut flower quality traits and induces maturity in immature bulbs.Item How salinity affect germination and emergence of tomato lines(Uludağ Üniversitesi, 2011) Kaveh, Hamed; Nemati, Hossein; Farsi, Mohammad; Jartoodeh, Safieh VatandoostPHigh salt concentrations in soil and irrigation water restrict establishment and growth of tomato (Solanum lycopersicum). Correcting saline condition in field and greenhouse would be expensive and temporary while selection and breeding for salt tolerance can be a wise solution to minimize salinity effects as well as improve production efficiency. In order to find any kind of tolerance to saline condition, effects of four salinity levels in irrigation water (0.5, 2.5, 5, and 10 ds·m−1 ) on seed germination and seedling emergence, and growth of tomato lines LA3770, R205, CT6, Fla, and ME were investigated in a greenhouse. Germination percentage and rate, emergence percentage and rate of all tomato lines were delayed and decreased by salinity increasing from 2.5 ds·m−1 to 10 ds·m−1 . All seedling growth characters, except seedling height, were decreased with increasingly salinity levels. At germination and emergence stage, LA 3770 were more tolerant to salinity than others.Item In vitro culture of carnation (Dianthus caryophyllus L.) focusing on the problem of vitrification(Uludağ Üniversitesi, 2011) Kharrazi, Mahdiyeh; Nemati, Hossein; Tehranifar, Ali; Bagheri, Abdolreza; Sharifi, AhmadThis study was conducted to evaluate the effect of plant growth regulators on in vitro shoot multiplication, vitrification and rooting of two carnation cultivars (Eskimo Mogr and Innove Orange Bogr). Isolated axillary buds were cultured on MS medium supplemented with different levels of Benzyl amino purine (BAP) or kinetin (Kin) in combination with 0.2 mg/l NAA and shoot multiplication and vitrification rate were tested. Then different concentrations of Naphthalene acetic acid (NAA) or Indole butyric acid (IBA) on root induction of regenerated shoots were surveyed. Shoot regeneration and vitrification were influenced by the cultivar, kind of cytokinin and its concentration. Eskimo Mogr produced more shoots in comparison with Innove Orange Bogr (6.17 and 3.83 shoots/explant, respectively). BAP-containing media had more shoot multiplication and vitrification than Kin and by increasing the concentration of cytokinin, shoot multiplication and vitrification increased. There was a negative correlation between plant height and internode length with vitrification (-77% and -85%, respectively). By considering the amount of multiplication and rate of vitrification for obtaining the highest number of normal shoots, MS medium containing lower concentration of BAP (1mg/l for Eskimo Mogr and 2 mg/l for Innove Orange Bogr) and 0.2 mg/l NAA is recommended. Rooting of regenerated shoots was dependent on the cultivar. The highest root percentage for Eskimo Mogr (83%) was achieved on the medium supplemented with 0.5 mg/l NAA, while for Innove Orange Bogr (98%) it was obtained on the medium containing 1.5 mg/l IBA.
