Bursalı mutasavvıf tarihçi Mehmed Şemseddin Efendi ve seyahatnamesi “Dildâr-ı Şemsî”

Abstract

Mehmed Şemseddin (ULUSOY) Efendi, 1866’da Bursa’da doğmuş bir mutasavvıf tarihçidir. Özellikle Bursa şehrinin kültürel hayatıyla ilgilenmiş ve çoğunluğu Bursa’yla ilgili olmak üzere muhtelif konularda yirmiden fazla eser yazmıştır. Çocukluğunda babasının memuriyeti, daha sonraki dönemlerinde de özel sebeplerle İstanbul, Selanik, Limni ve Midilli Adaları başta olmak üzere pek çok yolculuk yapmıştır. Bu yolculuklarda tuttuğu notlarını “Dildâr-ı Şemsî” adıyla seyahatnâme tarzında yazmıştır. Bu seyahatnâme gezilen yerlerin sosyo-kültürel hayatı ve özellikle tekke ve dergâhları hakkında verdiği bilgiler açısından önemlidir.

Mehmed Şemseddin (Ulusoy) Efendi is a Sufi historian who was born in Bursa in 1866. He especially dealt with the cultural life in Bursa and wrote more than twenty books most of which is about Bursa. In his childhood because of his father’s appointments and later for some particular reasons, he traveled to many cities and places; among them were Istanbul, Thessalonica, Limnos and Lesvos. He combined his notes taken down during these travels in his book of travels, Dildâr-ı Şemsî. This book is very significant for the knowledge given about the socio-cultural life and especially tekkes and dergâhs (dervish lodges) in the places visited.
