Geçmişte, günümüzde syphilis (frengi)

Abstract

Bu çalışmada halk arasında syphilisle ilgili tedavi yöntemlerinden örnekler verilmiş ve modern tıp bakamından bazı sonuçlara varılmıştır. Tezin "Syphilisin Tarihsel Gelişimi" adlı bölümünde, bu hastalığın halk arasındaki tedavi yöntemlerinin tarih öncesi çağlara kadar dayandığı belirtilmekte ve ilk tedavi yöntemlerinin rönesansla birlikte başladığı gösterilmektedir. Çalışmamızda belirlenen syphilisle ilgili ilkel tedavi yolları, Bursa aktarlarından ve eski Bursa' lılardan sağlanmıştır. Bu örnekler, Can kurtaran Deri ve Tenasül Hastalıkları Hastanesindeki modern tıp yöntemleri ile karşılaştırılarak yararlı bir sonuca varılmaya çalışılmıştır. Belirle diğimiz sonuçlara göre, elde edilen örnekler, hastanın derisi üzerinde lokal bir iyileştirme (halkın hazırladığı civalı merhemlerle civanın lokal etkisi gibi) yapsa da hastalığı ilerletmekte ve zararlı sonuçlar elde edilmektedir Bu arada halkın bu hastalığı utanç verici bir durum olarak görmesi nedeniyle hastanın hastaneye gitmemesi de hastalığın ilerlemesinin diğer bir nedenidir. Syphilisle ilgili ilkel tedavi yöntemleri yüzyıllardan beri halk arasında gizli olarak uygulanmaktadır. Bu durum halktan elde ettiğimiz verilerden, bazı tarihsel ve tıbbi yazma kitaplardan ve yerli yabancı tıp tarihi kitaplarının incelenmesinden anlaşılmıştır.

In this study, some examples about treatment methods of Syphilis are given and conclusions are drawn from the medical point of view. In the first part of the thesis titled "Historical Development of Syphilis" it is emphosized that although simple syphilis treatment methods were spotted in ancient ages, the serious medical treatment methods were first applied in renaissance. The primitive methods of syphilis treatment were obtained from the herbalists and old native people of Bursa. These prescriptions are compa red with the modern medical methods applied in "Cankurtaran Skin and Genital illness Hospital" in İstanbul. From the comparisons it is concluded that the primitive methods may shaw local cure "due to mercury used in primitive drugs" for a short time but generally make the disease worse. Since people feel shy about going to hospitals because of social pressuref the illness develops faster than expected. It is concluded from Turkish and foreign hand written medical history books and from the dialogues with native old people that the primitive treatment methods of syphilis have been applied secretly for centuries.
