Abstract
Family of natriuretic peptides (NP), consists of eight or more peptides associated with each other. These are, atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP) prohormone consisting of 126 amino acids; brain natriuretic peptide (BNP) prohormone consisting of 108 amino acids; C-type natriuretic peptide (CNP) prohormone consisting of 126 amino acids. Although recently identified, natriuretic peptides have potential clinical significance. Natriüretic peptide family seems to be a “novel candidate marker” for the assessment of diagnosis, therapeutic response and prognosis in cardiovascular disease.
