Anlaşılması güç bir yazar George Meredith

Abstract

George Meredith (1828 - 1909) is one of the major literary figures of Victorian England as a novelist, poet and essayist. He wrote satirical novels of the upper classes. His novels include "Beaucamp's Career" (1876), "The Egoist" (1879) and "Diana of the Crossways" (1885). His poetry includes the long narrative sequence "Modern Love" (1862) and "Poems and Lyrics of the Joy of Earth" (1883). He also has another work entitled "On the idea of Comedy and the Comic Spirit". George Meredith is one of the writers whose importance has been revealed in our age. He has a style which is subtle and difficult to be understood now and then. He has a flair for analysing inner world of human beings. Now I am going to give an account of this writer in this study.

George Meredith Viktorya Dönemi İngiltere'sinde romancı, şair ve deneme yazarı olarak önemli edebi şahsiyetlerinden biridir. Zengin sınıfı konu alan hicvedici romanlar sınıfı yazmıştır. Romanları arasında "Beaucamp'ın Meslek Hayatı" (Beaucamp's Career) (1876), "Bencil" (The Egoist) (1879) ve "Diana of the Crossways" (1885) bulunmaktadır. Şiir türünde diğer yapıtları; sone formunda yazılmış "Modern Aşk" (Modern Love) (1862) ve "Yaşama Sevinci Üstüne Şiirler ve lirik Şarkılar" içerir. Ayrıca, "Komedi ve Güldürme Sanatı Üstüne" adlı eleştiri türünde de bir yapıtı vardır. George Meredith, önemi günümüzde yavaş yavaş daha iyi anlaşılmakta olan yazarlardan biridir. Güçlü ve yer yer anlaşılması güç bir biçemi vardır. Meredith insanın iç dünyasını büyük bir ustalıkla çözümler. Bu çalışmada onun hakkında bilgi vereceğim.
