Abstract
Cevâd Ali, 20. yüzyıl İslam tarihçiliğinde önemli bir yer tutarak alanına derinlemesine nüfuz etmiş bir isimdir. Zira İslam Arap tarihi üzerine yoğunlaşan çalışmalarıyla temayüz eden müellif, titiz bir araştırmacı kimliğiyle öne çıkmaktadır. Akademik üretiminin zenginliği, birinci el kaynaklara hakimiyetinin yanı sıra modern ve oryantalist tarih yazımına dair geniş perspektifinden kaynaklanmaktadır. Ayrıca Cevâd Ali'nin tarih yazımındaki özgünlüğü, olayları incelerken dönemin saha çalışmalarını da kaynak olarak kullanmasından ortaya çıkmaktadır. Bu yaklaşımı, tarihsel olaylara çok yönlü bir bakış açısıyla yaklaşabilmesini sağlamıştır. İslam tarihine yaptığı önemli katkılarla sadece kendi dönemini değil, kendisinden sonra gelen tarihçi nesillerini de derinden etkilemiştir.
