Popüler kültür ve din: Dindarlığın değişen yüzü

Abstract

Türkiye’de 1990’lardan itibaren dinî yaşantıda önemli değişimler gözlenmektedir. Dindar kamuoyu, bugün için katı olarak nitelendiği bazı davranış kalıplarından süratli bir şekilde vazgeçmiş görünmektedir. Bunun psikolojik açıdan önemli bir sebebi, dindarın otantik dinî normlar, geleneksel dinî yaşayış ve modern hayat tarzı arasında kalarak psikolojik bir çatışma ve gerginlik içinde kalması ve bundan kurtulmak istemesidir. Konunun bu psikolojik alt yapıya bağlı ve birbiriyle ilişkili iki sosyal sebebi vardır: Dinin popülerleşmesi ve beraberinde popüler kültürün dinî çevrelere dahil olması. Ancak bu sebepler çerçevesinde gözlenen değişimin kalıcı olduğunu söylemek için henüz erkendir ama bu sürecin kalıcı etkilerinin olacağı muhakkaktır.

We have been observing a significant shift taking place in religious life in Turkey since the 1990s. Religious people seemed to have abandoned some of the patterns of behavior, which now they consider rigid. This article argues that there are two main reasons for this change. The first one is that the pious has had to choose a life among the so-called authentic, traditional, and modern lives that seemed to exclude one another, resulting in a psychological conflict and tension. The other reason for this change is the popularization of religion and, in turn, the inclusion of the popular culture into the religious lives of the people. The question to be asked at this juncture is whether this change is permanent. Although it is difficult to give a clear-cut answer to the question, there are some indications that lead us to believe that these changes may have permanent effects.
